Research Degrees in Social Sciences – Masters by Research (MRes)

Social science is a broad field of study covering sociology, anthropology, criminology, media and communications studies, social psychology, politics and many more subject areas.  Bournemouth University offers a range of multi-disciplinary Masters by Research (MRes) programmes in a variety of areas of social sciences.  All courses are led by major and experienced social scientists and offer the first range of social sciences which draw on the BU MRes.

The MRes courses available are:

  • MRes Political Psychology
  • MRes Emotions, Culture and Society: Sociological and Psychosocial Approaches
  • MRes Sociology of the Media and Popular Culture
  • MRes Psychoanalysis, Culture and Society
  • MRes Families, Religion and Society

Expected start dates are September 2015, January 2016 and April 2016.

Candidates should have a good Bachelors honours degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject area or equivalent professional experience.  If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 (Academic) or above will be required.
