Project Overview:  the aim of this project is to evaluate the effect of ketone metabolism on cognitive function of older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of coconut oil on cognitive functions of older adults with mild cognitive impairment; it will focus on the role of ketone bodies released from the metabolism of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) present in coconut oil on neurogeneration. A randomized control trial using coconut oil as a dietary intervention will be used to investigate the effect of coconut oil on cognitive functions.  Overall, the study aims at evaluating the ability of dietary coconut oil on improving cognitive performance in older adults with MCI.
