Food, nutrition and improving public consumption

The School has been successful in securing funding from the EuropeanUnion (EU). Dr Heather Hartwell said: “We will be working with Bonduelle, a vegetable processor in France. Results from VEGGIEAT will be gathered and modelled to provide strategic market intelligence for decision-making by the food industry and for policy purposes by the EU. The application of this data will contribute to operational benefits for European vegetable manufacturers (growers, processors and retailers), while adding to the body of knowledge regarding consumer behaviour and preferences towards vegetable intake. This collaboration with an innovative small and medium sized enterprise will invigorate the vegetable sector in Europe while addressing in a constructive way the EU objectives of healthier eating at population level.
