Sustainable development is a matter of concern for all countries across the world, but differing levels of priority and levels of resources being invested in pursuing it. Academics from all over the world are working to raise awareness of the need for sustainable development by joining forces to produce free resources for a free Teach-In on 25th March 2015, as part of World Sustainability Day.
Bournemouth University’s Dr. Chris Shiel has twice participated as a member of the Scientific Committee in the World Symposium in Sustainable Development at Universities (WSSDU ) Conferences, first in Rio (Rio+20) then last year in Manchester. Dr. Shiel has championed education for sustainable development across higher education for the last ten years and is a proud supporter of the 3rd World Sustainability Day Teach-In.
Dr. Shiel commented, “The 3rd World Sustainability Day Teach-In is set to be a very special day, and I would encourage as many people as possible to participate. Experts in sustainable development from all across the world have produced free to use resources that can be used as the basis of lectures.
Resources for the 3rd World Sustainability Day Teach-In consists of:
- A set of lectures prepared by some of the leading experts on sustainable development
- A set of videos on the scientific, economic and social aspects of sustainable development
- A discussion forum
Participation is open to anyone who is interested and is free of charge. In order to gauge levels of participation and impact, organisers would like people to register an interest here.
