Bournemouth University took part in the ‘Science Tent’ at Bestival in early September to showcase some of the University’s fantastic research to the Festival audience. Research activities and information were on show for festival goers, with BU’s archaeology research being the centre of attention. Over 13,000 people passed through the Science Tent over the course of the weekend.
Some of the research activities that were showcased included Surprising Skulls, were people had to match up skulls to pictures of what animal they thought the skull belonged to, and The Primate Activity ran by Dr Fiona Coward and Sarah Elliot was an extremely exciting display that gave passers-by an insight into our ancestors dating back from 7 million years ago and the journey of how we evolved.
People were also encouraged to engage in brain teasers such as word and colour recognition and how they conflict with each other which proved to be a fun and humorous activity for participants.
