For this Festival of Learning 2014 event, BU’s Dr Bryce Dyer went to great lengths to answer the question ‘Is technology really that important?’ It was very clear from his talk that, with regards to sport, yes it certainly is!
Bryce did not come to this conclusion without raising further interesting issues though, such as ‘is it fair to use technology as a weapon of competition?’ or ‘is technology merely a fashion statement?’
In this engaging talk Bryce described the technology used within sport from as early as in the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece up until present day events such as the upcoming World Cup. Bryce particularly outlined the positive uses of technology in sporting events such as the Paralympic Games.
