This talk was on a subject that is all too familiar to many of us and consequently a subject that should be tackled with care. BU’s Professor Colin Pritchard achieved this and more by delivering a talk that was informative, insightful and even at times uplifting.
While unfortunately no one could argue with the increasing rates in which cancer is effecting our lives, Colin used a number of statistics to show the value of the NHS in reducing cancer deaths and excelling in an area where other Western countries fall short.
The subject matter was difficult and some of the figures incredibly frightening, but one still went away with a sense of hope and faith in our National Health Service thus making it an invaluable Festival of Learning 2014 event.
The full event title is: ‘Just how good or bad is the NHS in reducing the cancer deaths? A comparison with the USA and other the other Western nations’.
