About the Centre
The Centre of Postgraduate Medical Research and Education (CoPMRE) was opened by the Vice Chancellor in June 2007. It is the main point of contact for doctors working in local NHS trusts who are, or would like to be, engaged in research and / or education activities.
We have an interest in chronic disease and complex intervention. Research takes place within the Bournemouth University Clinical Research Unit (BUCRU) which is a model for supporting and conducting high quality health research
The Centre is associated with the Dorset Research Governance Consortium facilitating common procedures for grant and ethics committee applications across Dorset.
This Research Centre formed part of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 Unit 3 submission.
Collaboration between the clinical tutors/ foundation directors from local NHS Trusts and University lecturer practitioners, has also led to the development of the Professional Skills in Medicine for F2 Doctors programme which is delivered to around 90 junior doctors in Dorset. For more information download our programme handbook (2016/2017): Professional Skills in Medicine for Foundation Year 2 doctors Programme Handbook 2016/17.
