Marty Baron, Executive Editor at The Washington Post, recently gave an insightful talk to a captive audience at the Reuter’s Institute for the Study of Journalism (University of Oxford).
The main crux of the talk centred on the difficulties of adapting the business of journalism to the digital environment. The talk was particularly relevant to Dr John Oliver, a Visiting Fellow at the Institute, who is currently researching how media firms have successfully adapted to a digital and new media environment.
Dr Oliver commented that “it was an excellent talk which highlighted the day-to-day difficulties that some firms have in adapting their business in such high velocity market conditions”.
