Showcasing Undergraduate Research Excellence at Bournemouth University (SURE BU): encourage students to submit their research
SURE BU is returning for the second year running and is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the research work undertaken by our undergraduates and recent graduates. Last year’s conference revealed the depth and breadth of BU’s undergraduate research excellence with submitted projects including the use of EEG to examine neural processing of facial disfigurement and research into the problems faced by people with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
SURE BU is open to all undergraduates and recent BU graduates and is a great way to share their research and gain valuable presentation skills. As well as being a chance to improve their skills, prizes will be available which include a fully-funded Masters at BU for the best overall contributor.
Throughout November, staff from BU’s Centre for Excellence in Learning will be running drop-in workshops for students who want advice or support to prepare their SureBU submission. Staff will be on hand to discuss the suitability of a project for submission, as well as provide comments on abstracts, posters or presentations.
If you know of a student who has carried out an excellent piece of research as part of their course or placement, do encourage them to submit their work.
Workshop dates, times and locations are:
4 November, 3pm – 4pm, PG30a
10 November, 3pm – 4pm, PG30a
17 November, 9am – 10am, PG30a
18 November, 12pm – 1pm, PG30a
5 November, 12pm – 1pm EB202
11 November, 12pm – 1pm R303
The deadline for abstract submissions is 10 December. To submit abstracts, students need to visit the SURE BU website. If you or your students have any questions read the frequently asked questions information or email the team.
