From the Google car and Amazon drones to interactive features on our mobile phones -artificial intelligence and independent machines are no longer simply matters for science fiction. But the law has already struggled to address the risks and challenges posed by the internet and modern corporate behaviour. This interactive presentation will ask whether technological developments will force us to modify our concepts of legal personhood and how we regulate and define crime. Working collaboratively with law students and drawing on a range of films and concepts, we will seek to explore the risks and the challenges for the criminal law in the 21st century.
The event is organised by Jeff Wale and David Yuratich and is part of Bournemouth University’s Festival of Learning . It will take place on Wednesday 15 July 2015, 6.00 – 8.00pm.
